Theorizing “religions” as vestigial states.

I am a professor in the Department of Classics and Religious Studies at the University of Ottawa, located in Canada’s capital. I write and teach about feminism, popular culture, psychoanalysis and “religion” as a technology of governance. I am particularly interested in the sub-field of religious studies known as ‘critical religion.’

“That the category of religion is itself a consequence of histories of governance and is thereby drenched in and constructed by ‘politics’ is a principle that will help build more complex and thus more useful templates for feminist research and activism.”
